A Power Supply is the source of electrical power for a device, circuit, system, or subsystem.  

An AC power supply is used to provide a source of AC power and allow the user to vary the voltage, phase and frequency for both single and multi-phase applications.

DC power supplies are used to provide operating power to design prototypes. They provide variable, precise voltage and current to the device under test (DUT).
