The High Voltage Inc VLF-6022CM High Load Capacity VLF Hipot is designed to deliver up to 62 kV AC peak output at selectable frequencies of 0.1 Hz, 0.05 Hz and 0.02 Hz. It was engineered for high-load-capacity cable testing—especially for cables rated up to about 35 kV—enabling the testing of long cable runs (in the order of multiple miles) by virtue of its high capacitance handling. The unit comes in a two-piece portable construction (control unit + high voltage tank) for ease of transport and field use, and includes built-in features such as a charging-current meter, load-capacitance meter, test duration timer, polarity indicator lights, and a shielded HV output cable.

High Voltage Inc VLF-6022CM High Load Capacity VLF Hipot supports continuous duty and provides a true sine-wave output independent of the capacitive loading of the cable under test. Its load capability is rated at approximately 1.1 µF at 0.1 Hz, 2.2 µF at 0.05 Hz, and 5.5 µF at 0.02 Hz, which helps in handling long cable lengths with substantial capacitance. The combination of high voltage, low frequency, and large load capacity makes VLF-6022CM particularly suitable for cable acceptance and maintenance testing in power distribution systems, where standard AC or DC hipot testers might struggle with long lengths or large underground runs of cable.
